It’s reached that time of year again when everyone talks about Wimbledon.  Between the TV, internet and in chatting to friends, soaking up the atmosphere of the famous competition is almost unavoidable.

Do it Yourself Bingo

If you’re watching from home, why not make yourself a DIY bingo card so you can play along as you watch the competition unfold.  We all know how Britain loves bingo and how it goes Wimbledon mad for two weeks a year, so it seems a perfect combination.  You could even host your own bingo night… Fill in your squares with the following events.

  • Regardless of the forecast, it will rain
  • Bethanie Mattek-Sands will wear something ridiculous
  • People will laugh about when Cliff Richard sang
  • Cliff will appear in the Royal Box, without singing
  • The roof being opened or closed will be a common topic of disagreement
  • People will try and fail to rename Henman Hill something like Murray Mound
  • One of the ground staff will fall while covering a court
  • The year of Fred Perry’s last triumph will be discussed as Murray progresses
  • The press will use photos of Maria Sharapova to sell papers
  • There will be a temporary new British tennis hero/heroine
  • An unknown player will make the news for having an angry rant at an umpire
  • A ball boy or girl will play a point and ‘win against a player
  • Andy Murray will play in a night-time five-setter with the roof up
  • The competition will give a channel like ITV4 the opportunity to play the Wimbledon film, the rom-com starring Paul Bettany and Kirsten Dunst
  • Some funny people will shout out “Come on Tim” at important moments during Andy Murrays matches.  Murray will be annoyed
  • Some women will be interview on television by the BBC, while blatantly very tipsy on Pimm’s and champagne
  • John McEnroe will be brilliantly entertaining as usual
  • The commentators will create a lot of hype about the next generation of British tennis stars
  • After a few early exits, this will be followed by disappointment at the lack of any real prospects.
  • Certain members of the Royal Family will appear at various occasions

Easy to Get Started

So get a piece of paper and make a bingo card.  There are places online which make this easy for you and you can quickly print one out.  You could set your own rewards for getting Full House, 2 Lines and 1 Line.  You could treat yourself to a bottle of Pimm’s for every line you complete as the competition progresses.
